The next time you find yourself wondering what to do on a blistery cold winter day, head to the kitchen and pick an area to clean!

1. Cabinets: The weather outside is frightful, but the dinner simmering on your stove is so delightful. Until you realize how much greasy debris is building up on your cabinets. Cleaning the cabinets is not something many of us think about when it comes to cleaning the kitchen, we typically think of the countertops and kitchen sink, oftentimes neglecting the cabinets. Give them a thorough cleaning this winter, especially after making a hearty meal, and you’ll thank yourself later.
2. Freezer: Winter is the perfect time to empty out your freezer because you can store items on your balcony to keep it cold while you’re cleaning and organizing. While you’re emptying out your freezer, it also creates the opportune time for you to take stock of any summer-inspired flavors you may have prepped and then froze for a future meal. The time is now, go ahead and make that meal and free up some freezer space.
3. Oven: Arguably one of the hardest working appliances in your home is the oven, it’s also the one that tends to go without a deep cleaning – especially the inside. If this is the case for your oven, the first time you clean it this season may take quite a bit of time but it will be worth it! Start with the inside as splatters from holiday pies and roasts are more likely to occur in that area. Once that’s cleaned you can move on to the stovetop. Much like the walls, you should create a habit of cleaning the stovetop after your meals, especially if you made a nice marinara sauce that perhaps bubbled a little too much.
